I promised to share my favorite Christmas book, and—it’s not a romance.
I used to teach grades 5 and 6, and at Christmastime I’d read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever to my students. The kids loved the various voices I did, especially the shrill and loud one I had for Gladys. When I think about the book, I hear those voices in my head.
No way I will watch the movie. Not just because not every book should make it onto the screen (looking at you, Cloud Atlas!), but because I know this book by heart. I just can’t enjoy it in any other form.
Now, if you insist I name a Christmas romance, out of the many I love I picked Christmas Data Breach by K.D. Richards. You already know I’m feeling adventurous at Christmastime, so it probably won’t surprise you that I picked a suspense romance. K.D. Richards is one of my few insta-preorder authors because I love how she blends small-town romance with suspense. (Okay, her new series takes place in Washington, DC, but still…)

Holly and Heartstrings features brand-new holiday stories, including my contribution: Denzel in Distress.
No-nonsense Deputy Sheriff Dinah Robinson finds love with disaster-magnet Denzel. Christmas vibes, lots of poinsettias, and meddling townsfolk.
Help me name Keith Larsson’s siblings!
Denzel in Distress won’t be published as a standalone until 2027, but I’m already planning the next books in the series, featuring a brand-new side character you need to watch for: Deputy Sheriff Keith Larsson, class-A grump.
He doesn’t know what hits him when a beautiful tourist calls dibs on him. As if he would want a girlfriend! But then… Well, I’m not giving away everything. You’ll have to wait until October 2026 to read Claiming the Grump.
Here’s where you come in:
Keith has two siblings—a twin sister and a younger brother. They’ll both get their own stories, and I need help naming them!
I want both brothers to be grumps (grumpy/sunshine romances). But what about the sister? Should she be the sunshine finding her grump? Or should I try my hand at grumpy/grumpy?
Send your suggestions to ella@ellabraeme.com:
- Name ideas for Keith’s twin sister
- Name ideas for his younger brother
- Grumpy/sunshine OR grumpy/grumpy for the sister
I can’t wait to hear your ideas!
