Pride & Predjudice

I recently watched Pride and Prejudice. Again. I treated myself to the BBC series—so many glorious hours of Colin Firth stumbling into love, all smoldering glances and that iconic wet shirt moment. There’s something endlessly rewatchable about Austen’s stories, isn’t there? The wit, the longing, the slow burn of two people who are absolutely wrong for each other until suddenly they’re absolutely right.

There are countless adaptations out there, both on screen and on paper. From faithful period pieces to wild reimaginings, everyone wants to play in Austen’s world. And honestly? I’m here for all of it. But I’m particularly partial to the paper ones—the novels that take Austen’s brilliant bones and dress them up in new settings. Give me Darcy as a brooding CEO. Make Elizabeth a coffee shop owner who refuses to be impressed by his fortune. Set the whole thing in modern-day New York, or a small town in Texas, or even in space if you’re feeling adventurous.

I love the adaptations that take the story to a contemporary setting and give it a twist. There’s magic in recognizing that dance at the Netherfield Ball in a college party, or seeing Caroline Bingley’s catty remarks translated into passive-aggressive Instagram comments. The themes are timeless—pride, prejudice, the courage it takes to admit you were wrong, the transformative power of real love. When an author can capture that Austen essence while making it feel fresh and modern? That’s when I stay up way too late reading, unable to put the book down.

Do you love them too? Let’s celebrate the stories that prove some romances never go out of style—they just get better with every reimagining.

Snowflakes & Sweethearts

🎄 A snowy inn. A stubborn architect. A Bennet determined to outstubborn him.

After a soul sucking corporate job, Lucy Bennet escapes back to Maple Ridge to help her family reopen the long abandoned Snowdrop Inn. She expects peeling wallpaper, loose floorboards, and a steady supply of cinnamon buns from her sister Jane. Lucy didn’t expect to see her former boss, Dexter Fitzwilliam, standing in the middle of the renovation site looking far too calm for a man dodging falling ceilings.

After a slew of unexceptional replacements, Dex is determined to offer Lucy her job back. Lucy is just as determined not to take him up on his offer of a higher salary. He should be leaving to go back to the city after her rejection, however, Dex just won’t go away.

As holiday preparations turn into mild chaos thanks to Lucy’s dramatic sister Lydia, enthusiastic Kitty, and a mother with a clipboard. Lucy and Dex keep finding reasons to bump into each other. Some are practical. Some are… not.

But when an old friend shows up, hurt mixes with new sparks, Lucy must decide whether she’s rebuilding only the inn… or her heart as well.
